Honestly, a better head of hair I’ve yet to see. I was really looking forward to doing Anjola’s newborn session after doing her parents maternity session only a few short weeks before at Birds Hill Park (here if you’d like to see it). I got to know a little bit about her parents when we just chatted while doing their maternity session, I really feel that asking questions and getting people to talk and tell me about themselves helps ease the session. It makes things come easier when we can just converse like we’re out for coffee and it’s less awkward with a camera in your face too then!
I got to learn that they had an incredible church community, something I am very familiar with, and that she also worked in the medical field, this was also something that I could relate to in my pre photography life. I was interested to hear about their culture and their naming ritual and how that would play into Anjola’s life. Little Anjola would receive her name a little while after her actual birth date, she would get names from her aunts, uncles, grandparents that would all relate to her life here, how her birth went, her time in mama’s belly, different things that related to her character and short little life experience already. It was really truly neat to hear! So… I present to you Anjola, with many many more names ;).
